Historical practice cannot currently focus solely on technical details – source materials, extensive knowledge of the context of the creation of a work, the specification of instruments built according to specific historical knowledge, knowledge of theoretical literature from a given period. The essence of these elements should be more than obvious. All these smallest details turn out to be insufficient for the interpreter and recipient of early music. Performance consciousness makes you go a step further in order to reflect on what historical performance is in the 21st century.
